Together We Can Get the Job Done!

When so many people owe so much to those few in the military, (active, reserve or retired) who have given so much in service to our country, the Tribute to the Military organization has been helping our troops and their families. From supporting the Fisher House Project at VA Hospital Miami, Walter Reed Army Hospital and Bethesda Navy Hospital as well as homeless veterans or others with PTSD our help has been given. The Tribute’s efforts have not been of the news making variety because we are, frankly, not strong enough yet. Our dream is to grow our run/walk to such a dimension that we will be able to have a significant impact on the lives of those who have and continue to sacrifice for our collective security. Together we can make this dream come true.

In March 2002, shortly after 9/11 and in response to that attack, COL ( US Army Retired ) Robert Pickard, M.D., a practicing ear, nose throat physician in South Miami met with Hans Huseby, President of TeamFootWorks to organize the first Tribute to the Military 5K Run to honor the men and women in the US Military fighting the Global War on Terror. With no military draft and an all volunteer US Military there seemed to be a disconnect between those few who serve in the Military and the general civilian population who do not. Never before have so many owed so much to so few. Their dream was to see Tribute to the Military 5 K Run become a major family fun, exercise & unifying event for the Military and Civilian Communities of South Florida. Sadly Hans passed away last year and Tribute 5K Run died a little with him. Happily TeamFootWorks is reviving Hans' dream & he would want you to be a part of that dream. On Sunday evening, March 13, 2016, Tribute to the Military 5K Walk/Run will come to our beautiful South Miami neighborhood at 7 PM. Come and be part of that dream. Help us honor Hans and support our Military. Bring the whole family. There will be bounce houses and kiddie dashes. Refreshments to follow. The US Army 18 wheeler tractor/trailer, AS4, a 60-foot, 30 ton mobile warrior exhibit & simulator with the latest technology, weapons simulators, night vision sensors & lasers, and more interactive and hands-on exhibits will be there.

Support

Tribute to the Military 5K honors and praises the men and women who serve and have served the United States of America in any branch of the military, and are currently fighting the Global War on Terrorism.

Loyalty

In its 13th year, Tribute to the Military Run (TMR) began after 9/11, and each year our participation figures have increased. We had approximately 2,000 involved in our 2016 Event on Sunday, March 13th. This includes 1,000 runners and walkers of all ages, wheelchairs, and a matching number of spectators.
